Mums Wave.

Welcome to Mums Wave where I want you to feel the positive effects the ocean has on your mind body and soul.

I created this surf school to encourage everyone to experience the ocean in a relaxing, non- threatening manner. You can catch as many waves as you want or just sit on a surfboard and immerse yourself in the calming serenity of the ocean. Mums Wave Surf School is about you having a positive experience, learning to surf alongside other mums to support, encourage and have fun with.

A bit about me: My name is Lauren Robinson age 41. I have a husband and we have 4 year old daughter and we live in Ulladulla, moving from Phillip Island in Victoria 7 years ago. I discovered Surfing Mums in 2015 and have been a member of Mollymook Surfing Mums since then. As well as being a mum I have a Bachelor of Education, working as a teacher of PDHPE in both primary and secondary schools since 2002. When I moved to Ulladulla I completed my Surf Coaching certificate with Surfing Australia and have been teaching surfing for 7 years. Mums Wave was created and accredited by Surfing Australia in November 2019.

As a member of Mollymook Surfing Mums I would see many mums come and hang out, but not have the confidence to give surfing a go. Mums Wave focuses on mums learning to surf while their children are supervised by other mums and dads on the beach. This allows you to get that little bit of 'me time' that everyone needs as well as learning a life changing activity. For lessons run during Surfing Mum meetings, mums that want to use the child minding option must become registered members of Surfing Mums. Registration can be completed at surfingmums.com

For Mums with young kids I recommend you come and join us at our Surfing Mums meet-up on Monday and Thursday mornings from 9.30. They are usually held at North Mollymook but can change location depending on surf conditions. Information is usually posted on the Mollymook Surfing Mums page on Facebook.

    • Surfing Mums is about getting mums back into the water when they have kids. To get this to happen we have set up a dynamic social network all over Australia that gives mums an opportunity to meet up, surf and have fun. Our goal is to continue to build this community and network for parents, and provide the opportunity for them to surf without having to arrange alternative childcare.
Our not-for-profit association supports a network of mums (and dads) and who meet at the beach or park to alternate childcare duties enabling parents to enjoy some time in the surf. We have a developed a "surf swap" system. Mums in the group partner up, so that while one mum stays to mind hers and another mum's the children, the other goes for a surf. And then they swap.
Surfing mums was founded in 2008 by two mothers in Bryon Bay. After meeting up regularly to mind each other's children while the other surfed, they decided that this partnership could benefit mums around the country, and so Surfing Mums was born
